Lightness is rarely as light as it appears. This summer, Pictor Gallery presents Unbearable Lightness, an invitational and members exhibition exploring the quiet labor beneath the surface of ease. The artists gathered here consider what it costs to appear unburdened; the softness that is demanded rather than chosen, the smile that conceals effort, the grace that is itself a form of work. Arriving in the height of summer, when lightness feels most expected and least easy to sustain, this exhibition looks closely at what is often overlooked, the effort it takes to make something seem effortless.
